Lanta
Lanta (occitan: Lantar ) is a common French, located in the department of the Haute-Garonne and the area the Midday-Pyrenees.
Its inhabitants is called Lantanais.

History
The good C-W communication is Lantar , with R final dumb i.e. which does not decide. it is about a name of anybody Germanique: Lantharius. The Germanic toponyms were brought either by the Visigoths, or by the Francs, after large the cruel Invasions during which people come from Germanic (Germany) settle in the Roman Gaulle gallo where one spoke and wrote Latin. These invasions are placed at IIIe and Ve century S after Jesus Christ. The place names finishing in ens, like Roumens, Saussens, Maurens, would be of wisigothic origin.

The area of Lanta is a high place of the Catharisme (XIIe- XIIIe century S) and Protestantisme (XVIe-XVIIe); the head of the catharism rests on the powerful heretic family of the Hunaud of Lanta whose primitive Château was located a little at the North of the current church.
Hunaud are famous in the history Médiéval E of the Lauragais; they are cathares convinced and faithful supports of Raymond IV of Toulouse and (Raymond V of Toulouse or Raymond VII) during the Croisade against the cathares started by the Catholic church (1209 - 1229); several Hunaud took part in the victory of Occitans with Baziège (1219).
A woman of the family is to some extent the symbol of the women cathares of Lauragais who played a decisive part in the rise of the news Religion of the Good Women; she was called Marquésia de Fourquevaux where she had been born; she marries Hunaud de Lanta; his/her daughter is Corba which marries Raimon de Péreille, lord and military chief of the Citadelle cathare of Montségur; his/her little girl is Esclarmonde. The three women, three generations, went up and disappeared in the flames from roughing-hew of March 16th 1244, after the fall of the castle between the hands of the royal army. Hunaud will be then the chiefs of the rising protesting of March 1562, with Toulouse.
Caraman and a score of villages of the surroundings formed a Vicomté, then an autonomous county in 1484; this county was of 1321 with 1670 under the domination of the descendants of Pierre Duèse brother of the Pape of Avignon Jean XXII, then of 1670 until the Révolution of 1789, the county belongs to the descendants of Pierre-Paul Riquet, the creator of the Canal of the South, called then the Royal Channel of Languedoc.
On the family Duèse , it is Pierre, brother of the Pape (born with Cahors) which buys the Viscount of Caraman on May 20th 1321 with the help of 35.000 " small pounds tournois" ; a descendant Paul d' Escoullan de Monluc de Foix sells the county and the Baronnie of Felix Saint on August 5th 1670 to Pierre Paul Riquet who becomes thus Count of Caraman; its back small son Victor de Riquet marries a Marie Anne of Alsace Hénin-Liétard, princess of Chimay, of which posterity until our days. In 1981 a princess of Chimay came to Caraman and Revel for the ceremonies from Tercentenary from the Channel. More the big families of the southernmost Aristocratie were thus interested in these so beautiful grounds of Lanta and Caraman, testimony of their proverbial richness.
