Geography
Economic capital of the Trégor, Lannion is crossed by the Léguer. Proximity of the mouth of Bequeathing made that the level of the river in the center town varies several meters according to the tides. This characteristic allowed construction in 1992 of a running water stage tidal. A stopping makes it possible to retain the water brought by the rising tide and to slacken it in an artificial course with downward tide.
History
Would Lannion owe its origin with the destruction of Lexobie (current Yaudet?) by the Danes in 836. Yaudet, or into Breton, Ar Yeoded, would have been occupied by Yadètes. One was to add at one time to the word Yaudet or Yeoded, the word Koz (old) to indicate that this city was oldest of the cities of this area. The Romans had quickly made change the name of Koz-Yeoded into Quoted Vetus-Civitas or Old woman.
The rare survivors went up the river of Guer to a broad valley formed by the confluence of two brooks being thrown in Guer, and surrounded by hills. These survivors built their residence at the edge of Guer (current Leguer) vis-a-vis the hill of Brélévenez. For more than 300 years, this territory had been under the domination of a Huon family around whom several other families grouped, thus forming a rather imposing force. This commune is known for facts related to the Révolte of the Red Bonnets in 1675. One of its inhabitants was excluded from the royal amnesty of February 1676 (see).
