The term of “languages sino-Tibetans” is prone to controversy, in particular for lack of references, because only the writings Tibetans and Chinese are old of more than one millenium, and only the Chinese writing with more than 2000 years, the writing Tibetan having been creates at the 7th century, by an adaptation of the Indian Alphasyllabaire Devanāgarī.
Languages such as Vietnamese could have acquired words common because of its proximity and of its temporary integration to the Chinese empire, rather than at a common origin with the Chinese family or the tibéto-Burmese family.
