Languages papoues
Languages papoues: violet
The languages papoues gather the languages of the Western Pacifique, which are not austronésiennes or Australian. The majority of the languages papoues are spoken on the island about the New Guinea and in Indonesia (islands of Halmahera, Ternate and Tidore, Alor and Pantar, Timor), a little less on the the Solomon Islands and close archipelagoes. There exists a language papoue spoken in Australia, the meriam to mir, language of the islanders of the islands of Sea, Erub and Ugar located at the east of the Détroit of Torres.
The languages papoues are not homogeneous, they are on the contrary very diverse, more especially as the absence of writing during long years supported the linguistic divergences. Each family of languages papoues is thus divided into smaller subfamilies.
Although these languages were studied than their neighbors, one established distinctions within the group, which make it possible to go up the historical trace, starting from the compared Linguistique. However, of many languages papoues could not be recalled and are regarded as Isolat S.
