Languages oto-mangos
The languages oto-mangos set up a group of Amerindian languages. All the languages existing oto-mangos are spoken with the Mexico, although other languages of the group, currently extinct, were spoken until the Nicaragua. It is in the State d' Oaxaca that one currently finds the greatest number of speakers oto-mangos: together, the branches zapotèque and mixtèque of the group are spoken by nearly a million and half to people. In central Mexico, especially in the States of Mexico City, Hidalgo and Querétaro, one speaks about the languages of the branch oto-pame: together, the Otomi and Mazahua, which is connected to him, count more than 500.000 speakers. Certain languages oto-mangos are threatened of extinction: for example Ixcatèque and Matlazinca are spoken each one per less than 250 people, old for the majority.
If the languages oto-mangos coexisted since of the millenia with the other groups of languages mésoaméricaines, they are characterized some by various features. It is the only group in North America and Central America which belongs to the tonal languages.
