Language inuit

The inuit belongs to the family of the Langues eskimo-aléoutes spoken by the people Inuit. More than one language, it is about a linguistic Continuum which is subdivided in sixteen varieties, they-even gathered in four great units:

  1. the Inupiaq (northern of the Alaska)
  2. the inuktun (Arctic Canadian Westerner)
  3. the Inuktitut (Arctic Eastern Canadian)
  4. the Kalaallisut (Greenland)

The full number of speakers is of approximately: 80000.

The inuit, just as the other languages eskaléoutes, represents a particular type of agglutinant Langue called polysynthetic Langue: it “synthesizes” on a radical given suffixes and grammatical Morphème S leading to the formation of long “sentence words”. It is habit to say that the inuites have a hundred words to say snow, but they are in fact “sentence words” formed starting from “molten snow” or “snow fraiche” for example.
