Geography
Famous for its porcelain, the town of Langenthal is located in the Highone, on the Langete river.
History
Langenthal is mentioned in a document of 561, in connection with the abbey of St-Urbain, located in the canton close to Lucerne. During six centuries, this convent played a big role for Langenthal.During first half of the XVIIIe century, the village was transformed into commercial locality, heart of the industry of the flax. A porcelain factory and other companies reinforced the position of Langenthal like industrial and artisanal center.
