Lanester
Lanester is a common department of the Morbihan, in the area Brittany, in France.
The name Breton of the commune is Lann-er-ster (delivery).
Its inhabitants are called Lanestériens and Lanestériennes .
Geography
Lanester is located at the Confluent Scorff and Blavet. It moreover is crossed by the river of Plessis. The communes bordering are: Lorient, Caudan, Hennebont, Kervignac and Locmiquélic.
History
The commune of Lanester was created in 1909 by dismemberment of that of Caudan. The workmen working with the arsenal of Lorient, often resulting from the rural world, settled there in great number, with their family. But if the city has a very marked working tradition, it then also developed important commercial spaces. Moreover, part of its territory is rural, even if the agricultural activity regresses. Just as Lorient, Lanester was very tested by the Second world war.
Administration
Except at the time of the Mode of Vichy, Lanester always was managed by a left majority of (in particular by the PCF of 1955 to 2001). Since 2001, the team with the capacity, related PS, gave itself to the label “citizen”.
Therese Thiery was elected at the time of the municipal council of December 16th, 2004, following the death on December 3rd, 2004 of Jean-Claude Perron, general adviser and mayor of Lanester, elect in 2001. They make following Jean-Pierre Anfré (1997-2001) and in Jean Maurice, honorary mayor of Lanester and local historical figure, mayor of 1955 to 1997.

Tourist monuments and places
One cannot make Lanester a commune of a great tourist interest. Some curiosities can however be announced:- the cemetery of boats, along the Blavet
- the Bridge of the Catch, which spans the Blavet
- the center town, with a modern Town hall.
- vestige of the park with timber the sea (1847-1852) visible with low tide on the Scorff
