Landnámabók

The Landnámabók (“the book of colonization” in French) is one of the strangest works of the Icelandic Littérature . It contains messages relating to discovered of Iceland and its colonization ( landnám ), that the colonists were sent territory to territory and of colony in colony. The collection starts with the territorial claim of Ingólfur Arnarson on Reykjavik, as well as other similar declarations about varied areas of the island. The book then sticks to keep the account of the descendants of the first colonists, and recalls the family genealogies and the most important events until the 12th century: more: 3000 people and: 1400 colonies are quoted by name.
