Landkreis Aichach-Friedberg

Geography

The landkreis is in the east of Augsburg. The river Lech form in major part the limit enters the two territories. The principal river of the landkreis is the Paar, which runs out of south-west towards the North-East of the landkreis and on which is Friedberg and Aichach.

The landkreis of Aichach-Friedberg is mainly rural, the only urban centres are Friedberg, Aichach and Dasing like Mering and Kissing in the south of the territory. Concurrently to these cities or communes, exist only small villages even very small.

Transport

History

Archaeological discoveries show that the landkreis has been populated for at least a millenium. Many remainders of weapons found on the territory show that took place of many armed conflicts.

At the time Roman, the landkreis was in some kinds the barn of Augusta Vindelicorum, the capital of the Roman of Rétie and current Province Augsburg. There was then, above all, of the farms which supplied the city, he was also to be villas belonging to the rich person inhabitants of the capital.

Jahrhundert unter den beiden Erbfolgekrieg in und später den französischen Revolutionskrieg in.

Das Kreisgebiet gliederte sich ursprünglich in die Landgerichte Aichach, Friedberg und Mering. Nach der Vereinigung Friedbergs und Merings (1799) und den Verwaltungsreformen of the frühen 19. Jahrhunderts gehörte Friedberg ab 1817 zum Isarkreis (Hauptstadt München), Aichach put dem benachbarten Rain amndt Lech zum Oberdonaukreis (Hauptstadt Augsburg). 1837 kamen Friedberg, Aichach und Rain zu Oberbayern. Aichach und Rain wurden 1862 zum Bezirksamt Aichach vereinigt, aus dem Landgericht Friedberg entstand das Bezirksamt Friedberg. 1880 wurde der Gerichtsbezirk Rain von Aichach abgetrennt und dem Bezirksamt Neuburg a.d.Donau zugeordnet.

1939 erfolgte die Umbenennung DER bayerischen Bezirksämter in Landkreise. DER Landkreis Friedberg wurde 1944 dem Regierungsbezirk Schwaben zugeteilt. 1972 kam auch DER überwiegende Teil of Landkreises Aichach nach Schwaben, wo er put dem Landkreis Friedberg sowie einzelnen Gemeinden angrenzender Landkreise zum (provisorischen) " Landkreis Augsburg-Ost" vereinigt wurde. 1973 entschied sich DER Kreistag dafür, den Sitz of the Landratsamt be nach Aichach zu verlegen, und gab dem Landkreis seinen endgültigen Namen Landkreis Aichach-Friedberg .

Blazon

Description

Under a heading with the colors of Bavaria (blue checkerwork and white), are two columns, a money on the right and a red on the left. In that of right-hand side a sheet of holm oak appears and in that of left a cross of Saint Ulrich. The blazon of the landkreis exists since December 10th, 1975.

Significance

The sheet of oak comes from the blazon of Aichach. The cross of Ulrich Saint is reproduced on the weapons of Friedberg. The heading with the Bavarian colors symbolizes the presence of Wittelsbach in the landkreis.
