Landerd

Landerd is a commune of the Netherlands of the province of the Brabant-Septentrional , recently formed of the three villages of Schaijk, Reek and Zeeland, formerly independent communes. The old commune of Reek had been attached to Schaijk on July 1st, 1942.

The name comes from the Landweert or Landerd , an old flood bank of sand with ditch, located at Reek, dating from the French invasions of the 17th century. The chief town of the commune is Zeeland.

The common one has an agricultural vocation and tourist. The moors and the forests of Landerd of with dimensions of the Peel were recently included in a natural zone Maashorst ( Horst of the Meuse ) which is stretched on the communes of Landerd, Uden, Bernheze and Os like a sandy plate low between +10 and +27 m NAP.
