Landelles-and-Coupigny

Landelles-and-Coupigny are a common French, located in the department of the Calvados and the area Basse-Normandie.

Its inhabitants is called the Landellais .

Geography

Landelles-and-Coupigny is located in the Bocage virois at 12 km at the west of Vire and 70 km at the south-west of Caen. Its territory is drained by two rivers: Cune and Drome.

History

The Baronnie of Landelles and the abbey of Saint-Sever would result from the dismemberment of the baronnie of Saint-Sever by the counts de Cestre. The baronnie of Landelles in addition to the Paroisse of Landelles had its extensions in those of Beaumesnil, Coupigny, Mesnil-Caussois, Seven-Brothers, Morigny, Courson, Mombray, Saint-Sever, Talevende and Saint-Martin-of-Talevende.

In 1790 (1785?), the parish of Landelles and that of Coupigny unified.

January 1st, 1973, the commune of Annebecq is attached to that of Landelles-and-Coupigny.

Demography

In one century and half, Landelles-and-Coupigny half of its population lost since in 1850, one counted 1640 inhabitants there.
