Land Securities Group

Land Securities Group plc is an important British company of investment and real development based with London. It has one of the most important housing stock of the United Kingdom and is particularly well established with London, Birmingham, Canterbury, Bristol or York. It is represented with Stock Exchange of London and Frankfurt and is one of the components of the index FTSE 100 Indices.

The origin of the Group goes back to 1944 when the founder of the company, Harold Samuel, bought Land Securities Investment Trust Limited , which held three houses with Kensington and some government actions. The company quickly made new acquisitions and in 1947 it concentrated on the market of the real estate in direction of the professionals. The first times, Land Securities acquired goods apart from the borders of the the United Kingdom, but in 1971 it makes back machine and resells all its goods held abroad. From there, it will concentrate only on the interior market (the United Kingdom). In 1974, the value of the real wallet of the Group reaches 1 billion pounds sterling (£). In 1982, the company takes the name of Land Securities plc and later, it will still change denomination to take its current name: Land Securities Group plc .

The heart of the investments of " Securities" Land; rest on the market of the offices, especially located in the center of London, but the Group also manages commercial spaces, warehouses, industrial plants, supermarkets and buildings known as residential (customers of private individuals). The company has a division, Urban Community Development , which is interested in projects on the long run such Kent Thameside and another specialized in the real outsourcing, LS Trillium .

In June 2005, its market cap reached 6.8 billion £.
