Lancôme is a mark of products Cosmétique S created the February 21st 1935 by Armand Petitjean, perfumer with Paris. The name, selected for its sonority " well française" (like Vendôme or Brantôme) comes from Lancosme , a castle located at Vendœuvres in the Indre.

Two american companies had taken the control of the worldwide market. I thought that it was necessary that a French house is put on the rangs.".
