Lanaudière

Lanaudière is an administrative area of the Quebec, with the Canada. It is located at approximately 30 km in the North-East of Montreal. Its inhabitants are of Lanaudois and Lanaudoises.

The area is located along the the St. Lawrence and it includes/understands also the valleys the Assumption and Ouareau. Its main cities are Terrebonne, Repentigny, Joliette and Berthierville.

History

The name of the area goes back semi-officially to 1985, but as of 1964, the regional Chamber of commerce decided for this name. It holds its origin owing to the fact that a significant part of its territory belonged to the Seigneurie of Lanaudière starting from the French Régime.
