  • Mota (1204), Mote in Santers (1400), the Soft ones (1638), Lamotte in Sangterre (1728) and finally Lamotte in Santerre (17 brumaire Year X) means hillock on which rose a feudal castle. (a Mound).
  • Warfusée, of warde (guard) and rocket (fusus, destroyed) means body of guard destroyed.
