History
As almost everywhere in France, one finds traces of activity dating from the Préhistoire (of the cut flints discovered during the construction of the building the Mountain, a polished axe Plein Sun…). It is of Mérovingiens that date the name of the city, Morlacca and the memory of a first castle, on the coast towards Chantilly.
It is then necessary to await Philippe Auguste so that after one period of great misery, Morlacca, become Morleia sees a fortress setting up on the site of the current castle. A little later, the peasants worked much for the Abbaye of Royaumont, founded by holy Louis.
In the middle of the 15th century the city knows one period ostentation with a new lord, Antoine de Gallaix, who builds a new castle of which there remain only the ditches (street of the Old man-Castle) and restore the church.
Starting from second half of the 17th century, Chantilly intervenes in the history: in remainder the “forest of the Lily”, planted at the beginning of the 18th century by Louis Henri de Bourbon, seventh prince de Condé.
February 23rd, 1790, the seigniory of Morlaye becomes common of Morlaye. In the middle of the 19th century, the development of the races, which brings closer Lamorlaye and Chantilly again, is the striking fact in the life of the commune: today Lamorlaye, whose name is fixed definitively at that time, is proud of its nickname of " paradise of the cheval". The current castle, rebuilt in 1820, was bought and increased by the count Vigier in 1872. It was of 1960 to 2002 the property of the European biblical Institut which made a religious training center of it. The municipality acquired it at the beginning of 2005 and one reflection is in hand for its becoming.
Lamorlaye lodged a Lebensborn (in French: " Fountains of vie"), institution developed under the Third Reich by the mode Nazi and particularly by Heinrich Himmler where were to procreate subjects of pure Aryan Race (in particular of the Soldat S S) in order to constitute " the elite of the nation".
Today Lamorlaye belongs to the Communauté of communes of the surface cantilienne (CCAC, gathering nearly 36.000 inhabitants divided into seven communes) and signed the charter of the regional National park Oise-Country of France (PNR).
