Lambert II of Leuwen

Lambert II Baldéric of Leuwen , known as girdled the , died on June 19th, 1054. It was count de Louvain and of Brussels of 1040 with 1054. It was wire of Lambert Ier, count de Louvain and of Brussels, and Gerberge de Lotharingie.

With died its nephew Otton (1040), he inherited the inheritance which his/her father had gathered and stuck to the maintenr and to increase it, sometimes with the costs of the authorities spiritual and imperial. Thus one sees it with the catches of Wason, bishop of Liege, in 1046, then with the emperor in 1051.

It founded in 1047 the chapter of Holy-Gudule in the Saint-Michel church with Brussels.

In 1054, it joint the rebellion of Baudouin V of Flanders against the German emperor Henri III, but he perishes in a battle against the imperial army close to Tournai. He was buried in the abbey of Nivelles, where he is commemorated in the necrologist over on June 19th.

Marriage and children

He married Oda de Verdun (death after 1047), girl of Gothelon Ier, basic duke Lotharingie and of High Lotharingie, and had:
  • Henri II, (1020 † 1078), count de Louvain and of Brussels
  • Régnier, killed in 1077 in a combat in the Hesbaye
  • Gerberge, still lived in 1100, and had a Henri son. She was married with a count Lambert, probably going down from the counts de Namur.
