Lalande college

The Lycée Lalande is a Lycée of Borough-in-Bresse. It counts more than 1000 pupils between the Second and CPGE. The classes are primarily Scientifique S.

History

Founded by the Jesuits, the first buildings of the college, are built at the 17th century in particular a vault which is the only building of Baroque art of the town of Borough. After the expulsion of the fathers, the establishment will be successively college parliamentary, central school of the department of Ain, college again under the restoration, and finally imperial college in 1857 NapolèonIII pennies. After 1870, one speaks about the college of Borough and the name of Lalande is given only in 1889. Many are the famous pupils or professors having illustrated the college: Amp, Gustave Gilded, Gabriel Vicar, Etienne Gilson, Henri Bosco, Paul Nizan etc… In the first part of the 20th century, the schooling of the boys was continuous since 11th until the final one: two more recent buildings then are built. The rooms of Visual art remain in the vault of the college until the latter is attached to the municipality of Borough-in-Bresse. The novelist Paul Nizan, killed with the enemy in 1940, taught philosophy there.

The Lalande College was an important place of resistance during the Second world war, period during which pupils and professors were stopped, being worth with the college to be only civil establishment of titular France of the Médaille of Resistance. The site of the association of old resistant of the perhaps below consulted college. Is held each November 11th a celebration of this event by pupils and professors.

Collection

The college is holder of many objects of collection dating the XIX century sometimes, as of old models of Bobine or piles.

Composition

In 2005, the college counts 11 classes of Second, 9 classes of First (5 first S, 2 First L, 2 first E S), and 9 classes of Final distributed in the same way, for a total of approximately 1100 pupils.

Moreover it has four classes CPGE: MPSI , PCSI , MP , PC .
