Lake of the Gruyere
The lake of the Gruyere is a artificial Lac in Switzerland.
Situation
The Lac of the Gruyere is in the Canton of Freiburg between the towns of Bulle and Freiburg. With a 13,5 km length, it is the second plus artificial big lake of Suisse.
History
The lake of the Gruyere was designed following the construction of the Barrage of Rossens (Freiburg). The Barrage of Rossens was finished in 1947.
Island of Ogoz
The lake of the Gruyere has an island located between Bry and Bridge-the-City where some vestiges former to the construction of the dam Rossens remain of which ruins of castle and a vault.This island with the characteristic to be accessible to foot from left bank by a fine emergent strip of land when the level of water is sufficiently low (in particular in summer).
