Lake of Hongrin

The lake of Hongrin is a artificial Lac located in the Préalpes of Vaud, in Suisse delimited in north by a Barrage with double vault.

Description

It is located in zone Militaire where the Swiss Armée carries out artillery shootings and operations of armoured tanks. Reserve has a volume of 52 million m for a surface of 160 hectares. The area catchment around the stopping extends on 46 km, it is supplemented by other hydrants which make it possible to cover 45 more km. On the whole, the basin covers 90,8 km.

In hollow period, the water of the Lac Léman is pumped then stored in reserve in order to be used during an increased consumption.

Characteristics of the stopping

A pressure pipe used for the overflow leads to bank of the Lac Léman between Villeneuve and the Château of Chillon.
