Lake of Campana

The Lac of Campana is a Lac of mountain located in the the Pyrenees valley of Campan in the Hautes-Pyrénées at an altitude of 2225 Mr. It makes 8 ha of surface and has a depth of 41 Mr.

To follow the routes of the lakes of Caderolles and Gréziolles.

At the end of the Lake Gréziolles, to continue on the GR. 10 in western direction full (markings red and white). In half an hour approximately, one climbs the low wall of Campana de Cloutou by a path in laces; one passes close to the tunnel of access to the turbines of the stopping. One arrives, after a last projection, with the refuge of Campana de Cloutou.

Around the lake of Campana de Cloutou

the peak of Campana de Cloutou (2454 m)

To skirt the lake by its outfall (towards the south then west) and to arrive full west just opposite the refuge. There, to engage in two immense stone drains north-western direction which go up to a small collar separating the arète of the Peak of Cloutou of that from the Peak of Campana de Cloutou. Attention with the unstable blocks in granitic chaos. This collar, to follow the north-eastern arète until the top while climbing on large blocks which form like a staircase; it is of the 3 (feet and hands) without much difficulty, but better is worth encorder for the least bold. One is in the center of the circus of Cloutou and above the lakes; the panorama is seizing.

the Lake Arredoun (2326 m)

After the refuge, to continue on the GR. 10 towards the south. With the first small lake (2335 m) at approximately 15 minutes of the refuge, to prick in the east of except path to a small collar with the foot of the wall of the Peak Prada. One arrives at the lake Arredoun ( round ) in small fifteen minutes.

Tuhou Arredoun

Since the lake Arredoun, one can easily climb the shoulders of both Tuhou Arredoun (in occitan: round shoulder ). Attention however with the descent: some rock bars are difficult to pass and turnings should sometimes be made because it is easier to go up than to go down.

At the top of Tuhou Arredoun the Top (2502 m), one has a good sight on immense granitic chaos, remainders of the work of the glaciers (Lac of the Wing or the L, foot of the Peak of Cettiou, Pic Prada).

At the top of Tuhou Arredoun of Bottom (2381 m), the panorama overhanging the refuge leaves a good sight on the row of lakes and small lakes; it is included/understood why EDF chose this site to establish three stoppings.
After the lake of Campana de Cloutou

After the refuge, the GR. 10 continues towards the lake of Hourquette (3/4 of hour approximately). With the foot of this lake, two routes are possible:

1. GR. 10 and refuge of Bastan.
- To skirt the lake by its Right Bank (slope is), then to start the rise of Hourquette de Bastanet. The path is always marked out red and white. In large half an hour, one arrives at Hourquette ( small fork in occitan), collar which separates the valley from Campana of the valley of Bastan. In one early hour of walk, to quietly go down again towards the Lake the higher then refuge of Bastan (ASPTT).
- 2. Path of shepherd and Lake Port-Bielh
- To skirt the lake on its left bank (western slope), then to start the rise towards Hourquette de Caderolles. The path is kerné and marked out yellow. One arrives at Hourquette in half an hour, then one rocks in the high valley of Bastan and the lake of Port-Bielh (in occitan: old collar , used collar for a long time ).
- To skirt the lake by its Right Bank (slope is), then to start the rise of Hourquette de Bastanet. The path is always marked out red and white. In large half an hour, one arrives at Hourquette ( small fork in occitan), collar which separates the valley from Campana of the valley of Bastan. In one early hour of walk, to quietly go down again towards the Lake the higher then refuge of Bastan (ASPTT).
- Peak of Bastan or Port-Bielh (2715 m)

Since the refuge of Campana, to go up until Hourquette de Bastanet (cf route above).
- In Hourquette, to take full west, slope valley of Bastan , a few meters under the watershed. The path, usual of the hikers, more or less is marked according to the seasons, but is not marked out. One climbs while going along the lower part of the peak, then, after a small collar, straightforwardly on the peak. There are not great difficulties, if not risks it of stone falls; attention with the committed people above you. One arrives at the top (marked by a kern) in less heure.
- the panorama is imposing: Peak of Bastan, high valley of Bastan (Port-Bielh), pine forest of Bastanet, valley of Bastanet and valley of Campana de Cloutou.

- Peak of Portarras (2697 m)

It is the same principle as the Small Peak of Bastan: to go up until Hourquette de Bastanet. Of this collar, to prick full peak in the west then in the North-West. In approximately one hour, one arrives at the top of the Peak of Portarras.
- Peaks of Hourquette de Bastanet to the Peak of Contadé

to be reserved for confirmed; to check the weather well because after the Peak of Cloutou, there is no more loophole; to envisage the day.

To go up until Hourquette de Bastanet and to take the route of the Peak of Bastan (2715 m). To continue on the peak in northern direction full and to cross Hourquette de Caderolles (2495 m). To always continue on the peak until Tuhou de Cloutou (2568 m). To still continue until Hourquette Directs; it is last the loophole before the Peak of Contadé. To continue while following the peaks of Port-Bielh; the schistous rock is surbedded and perhaps by places, it will be necessary to plant pitons. After the Peak of Contadé, to go down again to the Breach of Contadé. There, two exits are possible: towards the east by the chaos of Cloutou and the Lake Gréziolles; by the west under the Peak of the Four-Terms and towards Mongie.
