Lake Zarivar
the Lake Zarivar دریاچهزریوار is a lake located at the west of the Iran, in the province of the Kurdistan, close to the town of Marivan. Its length is of 5 km for a maximum width of 1,6 km and a maximum depth of 50m.
The lake Zarivar is the dominating tourist attraction of the area.
During the War Iran-Iraq, it was military zone, that of which there remain still traces today.
In the Mythologie Persian, it is known as that a city of the name of Zaribar was formerly in the place of the lake. It would have been absorbed by the anger of Ahura Mazda towards a Derviche which had pronounced an improper prayer.
