Lake Rukwa
The lake Rukwa is a endoreic Lac alkaline located in the south-west of the Tanzania, with approximately hundred kilometers in the east of the Lac Tanganyika.
Located in the prolongation of the Lake Malawi according to an axis south-be-north-west, it is placed in a depression parallel with the Vallée of the great rift.
The size of this endoreic lake largely varied with the passing of years, sometimes even during the same year, because of the hydrous flux variations. Currently the lake measures more than 150 kilometers length for a maximum width of 35 kilometers. Its average surface is of 2 600 km but it varies largely because the very low depth of the lake and the weak escarpment of its marshy banks. In 1929, the lake 50 kilometers was only long but in 1939, it 130 40 kilometers kilometers was roughly long and broad.
