Lake Gaube

The Lac of Gaube is a Lac accessible since the Pont from Spain in the valley of Cauterets, Hautes-Pyrénées. It is the starting point many hiking. At an altitude of 1725 m, this Lac with the foot of the Vignemale (3298m) is famous for its site and its accessibility, the left bank is bordered by the GR. 10 in direction of the refuge of Oulettes de Gaube. Accessible in 1:00 from walk through pines or by chair-lift (gone up 270 m).

Of a depth of 40m, of a surface of 19 ha and more than 2 km of banks, its filling is active and the delta of this Lac located at the mouth of the principal torrent is charged with glacial alluviums.
