Lake Daït Aoua

The lake Daït Aoua is the most famous lake of the Morocco. Its access very easy, is located at 15 kilometer to the north of Ifrane by the RN 24 Ifrane-Fès, district rural of Ifrane, gives directly on the lake of 140 ha, its surface is variable according to the seasons. Its depth remains low, from four to five meters with the upstream (western) and a part swallows (in the east) envasée, of marshy aspect, exondable in summer.

The lake is surrounded by a close-cropped wet meadow and main forests of holm oaks (Quercus rotundifolia) and of Cèdre S: Cedrus atlantica . A belt of Poplar S and a few feet of Saule S surround the lake on its immediate edges. The submerged and emerged flora abundant and is very diversified; presence of Myriophyllum spicatum, Juncus bufonius, Carex sp, Polygonum amphibium, Ranunculus millifoliatus, Scirpus lacustris, Reeds communis and Typha sp.

It is one of the rare mountainous wetlands with well varied habitats (not very deep water, wet meadow, marsh with emergent, mudholes and forest).
