Lake Calafquén
The lake Calafquén or lago Calafquén (meaning “lake like sea” in Mapudungun), is a Lac south of the Chile located between the areas IX of Araucanie and X of los Lagos. It has an extent of: 12000 hectares (120 km ²) and a maximum depth of 212 Mr.
He belongs to the group of the Siete Lagos with the lakes Pellaifa, Panguipulli, Lácar (Argentine), Pirihueico, Neltume and Riñihue. These lakes have the characteristic to flow one in another and finally to discharge their water in only the río San Pedro.
The Lake Calafquén is the second tourist pole of the area after the Lac Villarrica. One finds there the seaside resorts of Lican Ray, Coñaripe and Calafquén.
