Three Baillaud family members, originating in Laissac, were members of the Institut of France. One of them was the founder of the Observatoire of the Peak of the South. The Baillaud family was also allied with the family Privat, editor with Toulouse.

Laissac is also the fatherland of the general inspector Louis Forestier, former student of the Polytechnic school and Déporté with the camp of Buchenwald, Grand' cross of the Légion of Honor.
