Lahti
Lahti ( Lahtis in Swedish) is a town of Finland cash 98 527 inhabitants (2006) located at the edge of the lake Vesijärvi. It is the capital of the area Päijät-Häme. In the beginning part of the commune of Hollola, the city however grew much more than its neighbor. the symbol of the city is a wheel of train on fire. The city is very undulating, it is indeed crossed by the highest central part and of the Salpausselkä (moraine vestige of the glacial last era).
Lahti is also an important rail junction and the site of two enormous radio antennas, one of it having been used for the transmissions in long waves of the Finnish radio. Nowadays, the old building of transmission shelters a museum. The city is also versed in the culture, with construction a few years ago of a great center in concerts and congress, the Sibeliustalo. This construction divided the population, since a great part estimated that the money would have been spent better in the fields of the Santé and of the education.
The symphony orchestra of Lahti, the Sinfonia Lahti, is one of most known of Finland. It concentrates on the music of Jean Sibelius.
Lahti has to offer much in term of education. It has many schools of songs and a polytechnic institute comprising of many branches, and in particular an Institute of famous design.

Culture
The Symphony orchestra of Lahti is one of the principal orchestras of Finland, because in particular of the personality of its leader Osmo Vänskä, burning defender of the work of Jean Sibelius.
Sports
Lahti is known for its test of World cup of winter sports ( Salpausselän kisat ) which take place every year. it was the city-host of the Championnats of the world of cross-country skiing 1989 and of 2001.The city is also the host of a club of Hockey, the Pelicans Lahti and of a club of Football, FC Lahti.
