Lagumot Harris

Lagumot Gagiemem Nimidere Harris (born in 1938 in Nauru - died on September 8th, 1999 with Melbourne) was a Pasteur, a politician and a president of the République of Nauru.

Biography

Lagumot Harris is born in Nauru in 1938. He marries a woman of which he will have ten children and is Pasteur of the Nauru Congregational Church before founding the independent Église with Boe in 1976.

He reaches by twice the presidency of Nauru : the first time for only one month (of the April 19th at May 15th, 1978) and the second time from November 22nd, 1995 to November 11th, 1996. He is then a president respected by the population thanks to his nonimplication in the financial and real businesses. In November 1996, it is isolated capacity after the reduction of the fleet of the Airline company Air Nauru following a financial crisis.

He dies in Melbourne (Australia) on September 8th, 1999 whereas he is president of the Nauru Rehabilitation Corporation .
