Lagrasse
Lagrasse (occitan: Grassa ) is a common French, located in the department of the Aude and the area Languedoc-Roussillon.
Its inhabitants is called Lagrassiens.
The village has been classified among the more beautiful villages of France for more than ten years.
Geography
The village of Lagrasse is located in the Corbières Département of the Aude at the bottom of a valley crossed by the Rivière the Orbieu. This area called Low-Corbières is characterized by covered hills of pine S and Mediterranean Végétation. Certain slopes lodge also Vigne S producing of the regional Vin.
History
The history of the village merges with that of the Abbaye Sainte-Marie de Lagrasse which begin with the installation in the valley from Nimphibius with some companions. They form a Monastère then. Charlemagne creates a charter in 778 which is at the origin of the Abbaye of Lagrasse, become later one of most important of France.With the Révolution the abbey is sold like national good. Today, the city lodges many Artiste S and Artisan S of Art which makes live the village and attracts many visitors.
