Lagoon of the Condors
The Lac of the Condors ( Laguna of los Cóndores in Spanish) is located in the district of Leimebamba, Province of Chachapoyas, Région of Amazonas in the north of the Peru, to 93 km in the south of the town of Chachapoyas.
It is a site of the culture Chachapoyas
A team of archeologists arrived on August 15th 1997 on this site of the Région of Amazonas and found 6 Mausolée S containing nearly 100 Momie S. They found there also parts of fabrics, collars of shells, ceramics and much of Quipu S, used by the INCA S.
The mausoleums are made stones and of ground, decorated with bands of colors red and yellow on white zone. To date, 280 mummies were discovered, accompanied by 3 000 objects of the period INCA or pre-incaïque. These mausoleums are perched with the sides of a vertical cliff, above a black Lac of an extreme beauty.
One reaches the site starting from Leimebamba. The 45 km of way are traversed with foot and back of mule.
