Lagaan
Lagaan ( Lagaan: Once Upon has Time in India ) is an Indian film carried out by Ashutosh Gowariker left in 2001.
Synopsis
In 1893, under the British occupation, the inhabitants of Champaner, a village of the center of the India, awaits the Mousson impatiently because harvests are thin.
Each year, the village must discharge Lagaan , a tax paid on the harvest of cereals. In order to humiliate the villagers, the chief of the local British garrison wants to double this tax whereas they are at the edge of the famine.
The villagers then beg Maharaja to intervene with the captain so that it reconsiders his decision. Having a dispute with the Bhuvan young person, the officer proposes a market then: if the Indians beat the Britanniques during a match of Cricket, they will be exonerated from the Lagaan during three years; on the other hand, if they lose, they will have to discharge triple tax…
