Ladapeyre

General information

Ladapeyre is a common French, located in the department of the Creuse and the area the Limousin. The inhabitants are Ladapeyrois and Ladapeyroises

Geography

Located in the North-western part of the Massif Central, the commune is in a depression dominated by the heights of Toulx-Holy-Cross.

History

Area border (walk) between the languages of Oc and Oil. The origin of the name is probably due to its dolmen in occitan: hone punt (or long). First quotation of the commune at the 12th century (cart. of Bonlieu): Lata Petra. In 1848, the inhabitants of Ladapeyre join those of Pionnat and Ajain for a walk on Guéret. It is about a revolt against the new tax which ended in a bloody confrontation.

Places and monuments

  • prehistoric Vestiges: a small dolmen, moved.
  • Gallo-Roman Vestiges.
  • Church of the end of the 13th century dedicated to Saint Sulpice. Nave with three spans, retable out of wooden of the 17th century.
  • Castle of Dauge, in the borough. Rebuilt at the 19th century, there remains only the châtelet of entry and the ditches of the medieval period (private).
  • Castle of Chassagne, medieval, restored (private).
  • Castle of Coudart (private).
  • Castle of the Coast, medieval, entirely destroyed (there remain only the bases), deprived.
  • Cross of way, 16th century.
  • typical Laundrette of the 18th century.
