Lactation
The lactation is a physiological function of the Femme and Femelle S of Mammifère S which results in the Sécrétion of milk by the glands mammaires after the Parturition. Lactation is started and maintained by a Hormone produced by the Hypophyse, the Prolactine. It is also maintained by a nervous way reflex initiated by suction the baby who causes the production in the Hypothalamus and secretion Ocytocine. This Neurohormone causes to make contract the cells myoépithéliales mammaires allowing the ejection of milk and also to stimulate the production of the proteins of milk.
Animal world
In breeding, one calls period of lactation the period during which a dairy Vache, and more generally the Femelle of a Mammifère, produced Lait. This period starts with the low setting and lasts 300 days on average at the Vache, this duration being different according to the Espèce S. In the dairy breeding, lactation is diverted of its natural function, which is to feed the young people, in favor of the production of milk for the human consumption. The young people, whose birth is necessary to start lactation, are generally eliminated by demolition (example of calves of butchery).
