Lachlan Macquarie
Lachlan Macquarie (January 31st, 1762 - July 1st, 1824), was a British major general, colonial administrator, governor of the News-Wales-of-South of 1810 to 1821. It succeeded William Bligh and was replaced by Thomas Brisbane.
He played a fundamental role in social development, economic and architectural of this old English colony. The historians allot to him a great role in the transformation of this penal settlement into a new base of civil settlement.

- the Lake Macquarie, coastal lake of Wales News of the South between Sydney and Newcastle,
- the river Macquarie, a continental river of Wales News of the South crossing Bathurst, Wellington, Dubbo and Warren before entering the Marsh Macquarie and the river Barwon.
- the river Lachlan, another important river of News-Wales of the South.
- Port Macquarie, a city with the mouth of the river Hastings on the northern coast of the Wales News of the South.
