Lachine
Lachine is a district of the town of Montreal.
Geography
The territory has a surface of 20 km ² and a population of 40.000 inhabitants. It located in the west of the Montreal city, in Quebec.
History
Called China (later Lachine) because of the ambitions of the Sieur of the Room to reach the China by the west. The town of Lachine is the first city connected by train with Montreal.It is the place of the Massacre of Lachine.
Policy
The current mayor of the district is Claude Dauphin. The advisers of the city are Jane Cowell-Poitras, Elizabeth Verge (District of the Channel), Bernard Blanchet (District J. - Émery-Provost) and Jean-François Cloutier (District of the Extremely-Roland).
