Lacapelle-Marival
Lacapelle-Marival is a common French, located in the department of the Lot and the area the Midday-Pyrenees, in the old province of the Quercy.
Its inhabitants is called the Marivalois , Marivaloises .
The old name of the place was Lacapelle-Merlival . Lacapelle was sometimes written into two word Capelle . One finds also the old denomination the Vault-Merlival .
The community of Saint-Maurice-in-Quercy separated from Lacapelle-Marival in 1772:

In the extreme North-East, of the grounds made up of metamorphic rocks and magmatic which rises up to 588 meters of altitude in direction of Saint-Maurice-in-Quercy.

In the North-East, of the Conglomerate S, sandstone and mudstones (mixture of Clay and quartz) of the Sorted and of the Infra-Lias. In the east, these grounds form the hill of the Pech of Peyrades culminating with 498 meters.

Towards the South-west, of the Calcareous S, Dolomite S and cargneules of the lower Lias is used like pastures.

In the valley of Francès and its affluent coming from the surroundings of the locality Causse of Dièze , of the recent alluvia dating from the Quaternary . The points low are there: 359 meters.

History
Old times
At the time of the Roman occupation , a route transportation would have crossed the area of Lacapelle. It connected Lyon to Bordeaux while passing by Clermont, Aurillac and Agen.Doctor Labat reports the legend of the Marie del Val declared that the Dumontet-Cardaillac citizen, if it had left Lacapelle, had never emigrated. Its goods were put at the biddings the 30 floréal of Year IV. His/her sister, Francoise de Gasc, rented the castle for 580 pounds per annum and bought the other articles under figureheads.
They were only the 8 floréal of year VIII that the Dumontet-Cardaillac citizen could take again possession of his goods, but well quickly, it sold them to private individuals of Lacapelle.
Modern period
At the 19th century, Lacapelle accommodated many agricultural fairs where were exchanged cereals and nuts of Limargue, sweet chestnuts of Ségala, bovines, sheep and poultries. Industry remained modest: the glassmakers of XVe had disappeared and only a tilery as two mills remained close to Francès. Many inns were related to the small shop. Road work was undertaken about 1860 for the deviation of current D940 by the Borough.
The convent of the Bénédictines of Our-Lady-of-Martyrdom was installed again with the borough of Lacapelle in 1843 on the instigation of the abbot Pierre Cadiergues. The nuns created, with the Castle of Galaup, a school of young girls which closed in 1905. With the assistance of the population and municipality, they made build the monastery of Moutier Notre-Dame in which they managed a farm. Their number reached more than 110 nuns at the end of the 19th century.
In 1879, the orphanage, created in 1779, was directed by the Sœurs of Vincent Saint of Paul.
The political life was sometimes agitated: August 5th, 1883, the deputy Louis Rozière was attacked with kick and receipt a blow of knife to the arcade. He supported Emile Laparra with the election of the general advice of August 12th, 1883 and was taken with party by partisans of Robert Fraysse, at that time mayor of Lacapelle and candidate.
The commune remained rural during the 20th century. An attempt to make use of thermal springs of the source of Bordet wood failed at the beginning of the century.
At the time of the Second world war, on May 12th, 1944, elements of the the 2nd division S Das Reich gathered all the men, from 16 to 60 years on the place of the village. Sixty thirteen-were stopped.

Employment and resources
Certain activities remain related to agriculture:- a dairy collects milk for the group Danone: 20 employment;
- of maintenance and farm equipment the sale workshops of and public works;
- an Agricultural cooperative .
Many elderly came in the Batch and constitute most of the population of Lacapelle. Adapted services developed:
- the association of Assistance to Residence in Rural environment (ADMR) for the bearing of the meals, 50 part-time employment in 2007;
- Service of Care Male nurses in Residence (IF), 7 employment;
- two old people's homes of which one which occupies the old convent of Moutiers Notre-Dame: 60 employment;
- of the medical structures and medico-social depending on the Institute Camille Miret which employs 750 people with Leyme.

- a station of congestion of the water collected not far from the source of Wood Bordet , marketed under the name Marivaloise .
Tourism
The historical last rich person of the city is symbolized by the castle set up by the family of Cardaillac and the old city with his stone-built houses of size.The common offer to the visitors services of a Tourist office located beside the Arbol , many lodgings as well as the municipal camp-site of the Wood of Sophie .
One of the branches of the ways of Pèlerinage of Saint-Jacques-to-Compostelle coming from the Puy-en-Velay passes by Lacapelle. This route is also a Sentier of great excursion: the GR6.
Lacapelle is a commune classified among the most beautiful villages of France.
