Laboratories Flash

The Laboratoires Flash are principal the laboratories of development, treatment and pulling of cinematographic films in France. Their work recently turned to the Numérique, to start with the restoration of old films.

Since 1938, the company also has studios of turning, located, like the laboratory, with Épinay-sur-Seine.

History

Created with Epinay-sur-Seine in 1907 by the industrialist Charles Jourjon, the Éclair company is intended initially for the production of films: between 1908 and 1918, Éclair is the third French firm after Gaumont and Pathé. It is directed then towards manufacture of projectors and material of development of films, before launching out in the manufacture of cameras as from 1920, with in particular the Caméréclair and the Camérette Éclair .

In 1929, Éclair produces one of first sound films, the Collar of the queen realized by Gaston Ravel. Died of Charles Jourjon in 1938, his son-in-law Jacques Mathot succeeds and repurchases the studios Tobis to him d' Epinay-sur-Seine, where was turned the heroic Village fair of Jacques Feyder and the Million of Rene Clair.

In 1947, Éclair launches the camera 35 mm Cameflex , whose portable version obtains the price of the Academy off American Motion Pictures three years later. In the years 1960, its model Flash 16, conceived at the origin for ORTF, is made known by the scenario writers of the New wave.

The activity of manufacture of cameras will be repurchased with the beginning of the year 1970 by the producer Harry Saltzman before being sold in the years 1980 with the main competitor of Flash Aaton. The company diversifies then with the treatment of the Vidéo and the film restoration on films. In parallel, the studios of Epinay accommodate the turning of many feature films.

Éclair Group gathers, inter alia, the laboratory flash, the Laboratoire GTC, the video laboratory Télétota, the Laboratoire Neyrac Films.

Éclair Group realized in 2004 a turnover Net consolidated of 97,3 million euros.
