Labor market

A Labor market is a place, present in the majority of the French big cities where are brought together different the trade unions employees, this place makes it possible the trade unions to have buildings to carry on their activities (meetings, permanence of trade-union reception, support services, working culture…).
It is not a legal requirement for the towns of set up them, these structures were used for the end it 19th century to help the trade unions to organize itself. The trade union movement organized in CGT then seized these buildings to make true working fortresses and to organize the workers of them. Town halls closed temporarily certain Stock Exchanges to break dynamics trade unionist.
The Federation of the labor markets is based in 1892 with the congress of Saint-Etienne. Its first secretary is Fernand Pelloutier. The Fédération of the Labor markets was one of the bases of the Trade union movement by organizing the workers syndicated in the territories. From 1892 to 1902, the Stock Exchanges develop quickly while passing from 22 to 86. The Current Trade unionist-Revolutionist was majority in the Stock Exchanges and considered that the trade-union structuring of the Stock Exchanges supported the class consciousness of the workers of the various joined together professions and permetait to develop a political autonomy and cultural working class. The Stock Exchanges were to be the embryo of the reorganization of the company by the trade unions as expressed it the Charte of Amiens of 1906.
After the First World War, the priority is given to the Departmental unions with the detriment of the Stock Exchanges. The support services of the purses are abandoned gradually abandoned under the influence of the left-wing political parties which transfer them towards the town halls or the State (helps of unemployment, courses professional, free placement).
