The basset hound Hound is a race of Gun dog. The international cynologic Fédération allots its origin to the Great Britain.
History
This basset hound would result from crossings between old French races, in particular the Basset of Artois (race now disappeared) and the Saint-Hubert. Its appearance in various television serials, like Columbo or Sheriff, frighten me! popularizes it in occident.
Character
As a gun dog it is adapted to small and average game and hunting in pack. It appears there enduring, heading. It has a good sense of smell and a serious voice.It is also increasingly required like dog of company. Its air melancholic person indeed hides an animal affectionate, mischievous, placid and soft with the children. Obstinate, it requires a firm education.
