LGV Interconnexion Is
The interconnection Is is a Ligne at French high speed francilienne open in 1994. Its name Is results from its geographical position in the east of Paris. It comprises three branches, meeting with Coubert: worms Paris and west of France, finishing with Valenton; worms the north of France, London and Brussels, which joined Northern LGV with Vémars; and finally worms the south-east which joined South-eastern LGV with Moisenay. Since “the annexation” of the southern and western branches by South-eastern LGV, one can consider that the interconnection East is only made up of the section Coubert - Vémars.
Layout
While coming from the south (South-eastern LGV or Atlantic LGV), the line starts with the triangle of Coubert and leaves towards the North-East. With the north-eastern point of the triangle, known under the name of “junction of Presles-in-Brie”, the LGV crosses the line, not electrified, Paris-Basle. No connection between the two lines for the moment is considered. However, a double connection would be useful to connect Troyes to network LGV and to transfer certain TGV coming from south-east from the Gare de Lyon towards the station of the East. Close to Tournan, a connection of help and service connects the LGV to the traditional line Paris Coulommiers. More in north, the station of Marne-the-Valley - Chessy, in correspondence with the RER has, serves the new Ville of Marne-the-Valley and the park Disneyland Paris. The LGV borrows then the viaduct of Chalifert to cross the valley of the Marne and to pass above the Ligne Paris-Strasbourg. The uneven interdict any connection between the two lines.Close to Claye-Souilly, two connections connect the line to LGV Is European (Photo opposite). The line crosses then the Aéroport of Roissy by serving the Gare Airport Charles-of-Gaulle 2 TGV, in correspondence with the RER B and air transport. Little time after, the line joined Northern LGV with the triangle of Vémars.
History
- May 29th 1994: startup of the junction enters Northern LGV (triangle of Vémars) and South-eastern (junction of Moisenay)
- June 2nd 1996: startup of the outlet on Paris (junction of Creteil and connection of Valenton)
Connections
- Lille-Lyon
- Lille-Strasbourg
- Brussels-Marseilles-Nice
- Brussels-Perpignan
- Brussels-Nantes
- Brussels-Rennes
- Brussels-Bordeaux
- in winter: connection the Country-Low-Alps
Projects
- It is planned to build a suburban line along the LGV between Villeparisis and Vémars. This project can have two goals: to serve the airport of Roissy from Paris (alternative to CDG Express train), or to be the embryo of “tangential” Is connecting Roissy to Meaux, Marne-the-Valley and Melun.
- the interconnection East should in the long term be supplemented by a LGV Southern Interconnexion, even a LGV Western Interconnexion; the Ile-de-France would then lay out of a true “Francilienne high speed”
