It was attached to the bailliage Heathers under the name of Panges.

! --> Small village of textile tradition, sadly known during the Years 1980 at the time of the Business Grégory, it is gravitational by its geographical position in the middle of Vosgean Piedmont, attracting a young population, animated by the rurbanisation and the growing influence of the prefecture.

Geography

Vosgean small village of the North-East of France in the middle of Piedmont and the valley of the Vologne, Lépanges-on-Vologne rayon on a whole of small villages surrounding. Located at the east of Épinal, the north of Remiremont and the south-west of the Saint-Dié-of-Vosges, the village benefits from an advantageous situation to the crossroads between these various axes, and remains a passage towards the Vosgean peaks located at the east.

Lépanges-on-Vologne developed on three distinct facies: the first corresponds to the valley of the Vologne where level gravel-sand alluvia, the granite of Épinal constituting the base, the second corresponds to the adret with Beure and the last is ubac with Palhieu where the likings Vosgean and the principal conglomerate level, layers of the Secondary, more specifically of the Trias.

In spite of its presence on Vosgean Piedmont, Lépanges-on-Vologne already benefits from the originality of the Vosgean landscapes, resulting from the Orogenèse S hercynienne (as of the Dévonien lower than the Permien) and alpine (of the Trias, Secondary era, at our days), as well as quaternary glaciations. L' periglacial influence left many deposits on the plates, the slopes and the funds of valley.

The valley developed around the textile activity, of the services available to the village (doctor, station, shop tobacconist's…), of the axes of communication (railway, RD44, channel…).

The slopes as for them differ by their exposure: the adret benefits from a development of the habitat growing by the attraction of the townsmen of Bruyères or of Épinal and ubac is rather agricultural.

History

Lépanges was a dependence of the parish of Deycimont.

From 1803 to 1817, the files inform us misery of the time, punctuated of conscriptions and requisitions for the French Army initially, then for the allied armies.

At the beginning of the 19th century, the population was quite thin, with some 377 inhabitants (in 1803) gathered within 72 families established in localities like Palhieu on ubac, the Frieze, the Huts, current street of the Church (built in 1863), located on the adret. Only some attachments of oxen and horses took this way to join the few surrounding farms.

The mill of the count de Bourcier de Girecourt, as well as an additional mill, remained the only activities of the village. Lépanges was on the way of the count de Bourcier when it went Girecourt to the castle of Saint-Jean-of-Market. Thus, one would have placed boards to facilitate the passage, from where Espange then Épange, Panges, Lépanges, to become Lépanges-on-Vologne in 1965. This etymology is however discussed.

The first bridge consisted of boards and beams. Its maintenance generated very important expenditure, putting the forests at hard test…

The economic main activity of the village is the company Decouvelaere . Created with Tourcoing in 1946 and established with Lépanges-on-Vologne since 1964, the company evolves/moves today in three trades: weaving, dyeing and transformation of fabrics.
