Léopold de Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen

Léopold of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen , born the September 22nd 1835 in Krauchenwies close to Sigmaringen, and dead the June 8th 1905 with Berlin.

From this union will be born:

  • Guillaume de Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen (1864 - 1927), prince de Hohenzollern, in 1889 it married Marie-Therese of Deux-Siciles (posterity). Widower, it married in 1915 Aldegonde of Bavaria.

  • Charles Antoine de Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen (1868 - 1919), in 1894 it married Josèphine of Belgium (posterity)

Member (catholic) of the royal family of Prussia, remote cousin future emperor of Germany Guillaume I {{er}} of Germany, the Spanish government, after the abdication of the queen Isabelle II proposed the throne of Spain to him but the France of Napoleon III, fearing surrounding by the Hohenzollern was opposed to its candidature and his/her father the prince old Charles-Antoine Minister-president of the kingdom made him understand that its advent could be a casus belli. Léopold de Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen has for ascending Bouchard Ier, count de Zollern, it is the back grandfather of Michel Ier of Romania.
