Lébédos
Lébédos (in Greek old Λέϐεδος ) is one of the twelve cities of the ancient Dodécapole Ionienne. It is located on the current peninsula of Kisik between the great beaches of Guemuelder and Uerkmez . It is close to Smyrna in north, Colophon in the east and Éphèse in the south.
The city becomes famous at seventh century BC for its sources of warm water, which in fact a thermal city, like its temples of Apollon and Dionysos. It takes part in the revolt of the Ionie against the empire of the Achéménides.
With the hellenistic time, towards 304 av. J. - C., Antigone One-eyed the wishes to amalgamate the city with that of Téos. However this operation is carried out in an incomplete way and little of time after, Lysimaque devastation the city and off-sets its inhabitants with Éphèse. At the time Lébédos Roman is hardly more than one village.
