Kyūshū

is the larger third and southernmost of the island S of the Japan. She is regarded as the birthplace of civilization japonaise.
Le name Kyūshū means nine (九) provinces (州) and evokes the old existing provinces before the creation of the current prefectures in 1871. These nine provinces were Chikuzen, Chikugo, Hizen, Higo, Buzen, Bungo, Hyūga, Satsuma, and Ōsumi.

Geography

The island is mountainous and has largest active Volcan of the Japan, the Mont Aso, which culminates with 1.592m.

The principal city of the island east Fukuoka - Hakata which has a port and an important center of heavy industries, Kitakyūshū and Ōmuta are also industrial centers. Nagasaki is the largest port of the island. At Kyūshū also the Space center of Tanegashima is (JAXA) which is one of both space centres of Japan.

Kyūshū has a subtropical climate. The principal productions are the Riz the The the Tabac, the soft potatoes and the Soja without forgetting the Soie. The island has two famous types of Porcelaine: Satsuma and Hizen.
