Kyösti Kallio

Kyösti Kallio (born the April 10th 1873 with Ylivieska - deceased the December 19th 1940 with Helsinki) was a politician Finnish. Member of the agrarian Left, he was Prime Minister several times, of 1922 with 1924, of 1925 with 1926, of 1929 with 1930 then of 1936 with 1937. He became the fourth president of the Finnish Republic of 1937 with 1940. Resigning for health reasons, he dies the day of his departure of the capacity, while waiting for the train to leave the capital.

Anticommunist, it is at the origin of the prohibition of the Finnish Communist party at the time of its first passage to the government, in 1923.

During its presidency, it had to face the aggression of the the USSR (Guerre of Winter). In spite of the keen resistance of the Finnish troops carried out by the Marshal Carl Gustaf Emil Mannerheim, it was constrained to ask the armistice, then to sign the Traité of Moscow in March 1940, where Finland lost the essence of the Karelia. Thereafter, the hard conditions of this humiliating treaty were the cause of the entry in war of the Finland against the the USSR at the same time as the Nazi Germany (Guerre of continuation).
