Koninklijke Voetbalklub Kortrijk is a Belgian club of Football which evolves/moves at the time of the season 2006 - 2007 in division 2. Hein Vanhaezebrouck is the trainer. Lorenzo Staelens is the sport director.

The Club

  • 1901 : foundation of SPORTING CLUB COURTRAISIEN the 3/14/1901 and affiliation with the Belgian Union of the Athletic Companies of Sports (UBSSA-future URBSFA) the 8/28/1901 like initial club
  • 1902: affiliation with the UBSSA of SPORTING CLUB COURTRAISIEN the 1/19/1902 like effective club
  • 1919: with leaving the First World War, change of denomination of SPORTING CLUB COURTRAISIEN in COURTRAI SPORT ; this modification undoubtedly corresponds to fusion (nonofficial) with FOOTBALL CLUB COURTRAISIEN (allowed with the UBSSA the 1/14/1900; resigned after 1906; reconstituted in 1910; admitted the 1/4/1912 and credit during 1914-1918); a collaboration (fusion? absorption?) of Sporting union COURTRAISIENNE (allowed with the Belgian Union of the Companies of Football Association (UBSFA) the 12/30/1913) is possible. (the UBSSA had become UBSFA the 2/28/1912)
  • 1921: foundation of FOOTBALL CLUB SINT-ROCHUS KORTRIJK the 7/29/1921 and affiliation with the Belgian Royal Union of the Companies of Football Association (URBSFA) the 12/22/1921 like club beginning with the official designation FOOTBALL CLUB SAINT-ROCH COURTRAI (After obtaining the title of Royal Company, the UBSFA had become URBSFA the 1/26/1920)
  • 1923: after fusion (nonofficial) of FOOTBALL CLUB SAINT-ROCH COURTRAI with EENDRACHT SPORT COURTRAI (associate with the URBSFA the 9/13/1922), change of denomination of FOOTBALL CLUB SAINT-ROCH COURTRAI in STAGE COURTRAI the 6/6/1923 and affiliation with the URBSFA the 6/15/1923 like effective club
  • 1926: COURTRAI SPORT receives the number number 19; STAGE COURTRAI receives the number number 161
  • 1927: after obtaining the title of Royal Company the 5/14/1927, change of denomination of COURTRAI SPORT (19) in ROYAL COURTRAI SPORTS (19) the 5/19/1927
  • 1939: official change of denomination of STAGE COURTRAI (161) in STAGE KORTRIJK (161) the 9/27/1939 (however the club used already the new denomination (not officialized by the URBSFA before 1939) as of 8/7/1931!)
  • 1949 : official change of denomination of ROYAL CORTRAI SPORTS (19) in KONINKLIJK KORTRIJK SPORT (19) the 12/14/1939
  • 1950: after obtaining the title of Royal Company the 11/9/1950, change of denomination of STAGE KORTRIJK (161) in KONINKLIJKE STAGE KORTRIJK (161) the 11/29/1950
  • 1971: fusion of KONINKLIJK KORTRIJK SPORT (19) and KONINKLIJKE STAGE KORTRIJK (161) to form KONINKLIJKE VOETBALKLUB KORTRIJK (19) the 7/1/1971
(It is sometimes announced 1971 like goes back to foundation of Kv KORTRIJK (19); this information is inaccurate: according to the federal payments, a lately founded club must start its sporting career " with the bottom of the échelle" with knowing here in 1971 the 4° provincial division of West-Vlaanderen; it was not the case. Moreover, the club could not have used the qualifier " koninklijke" in its denomination without authorization of the Cabinet of the King and uninterrupted existence since at least fifty years)
