Kurzweil
By the way
Kurzweil Music Systems (often shortened " Kurzweil") is a company founded in the Seventies by Raymond Kurzweil.
Kurzweil manufactures synthetizers, numerical pianos of living room, effects of studio of recording (KSP-8, Rumor and Mangler).
Kurzweil Music Systems was repurchased in 1990 per Young Chang, an important Chinese piano maker.
The series of K
Kurzweil created in 1983 K-250, the first Synthétiseur based on the banks of sound in ROMANIAN of a sampler rather than of the forms of waves. This Synthétiseur was followed by K1000, which added to it a bank of sounds very provided and a keyboard.
In 1991, Kurzweil launched K2000, one of at the time most advanced Synthétiseur S. Based on a technology of synthesis owner (called VAST, for Variable Structures Synthesis Technology), it allows, like K-250, to modulate freely, with the manner of a synthetizer, sounds coming in fact from a sampler, and even to modulate on line sounds sampled by the apparatus.
This synthetizer has, since, is the subject of various variations:
- K2500 in 1994
- K 2500R (version Rack of K2500)
- K2600
- K 2600R (version rack of K2600)
- K2661 (version 61 keys of K2600)
K2000 was, and is still, enormously used by the type-setters of film musics for its sound qualities as regards orchestras or de textures. It was in particular used by the Disney studios.
The Kurzweil synthetizers are in particular used by:
- Stevie Wonder (which was partially in the beginning of K-250)
- Pink Floyd (since the album " With momentary lapse off reason" , the group uses exclusively synthetizers Kurzweil K2xxx)
- Nine Inch Nails (of which a big number of K-2000 was destroyed on scene for the needs for the service of the group at the time of Fragility turn)
- Jean Michel Jarre
- David Bowie
- Jordan Rudess
