Kurt Rosenwinkel

Kurt Rosenwinkel is a Guitariste of American Jazz of Swiss origin born in 1970. He lives in Zurich.

He made his musical studies with the Berklee College off Music with Boston, where he followed amongst other things the teaching of Gary Burton, before settling with New York in 1991, where he integrates the Electric Bebop Band of Paul Motian. He at that time forms also part of Human Feel, with Jim Black, Chris Speed, and Andrew of angelo. Pet of the New Yorkean musicians, it multiplies the concerts accompanied by Brad Mehldau, Joshua Redman, Mark Turner, Jeff Balard, inter alia…

He innovates and represents an important influence for the guitarists jazz by his new sound, which he often doubles with the voice at the time of his chorus. He privileges a world intervalliquement " neuf" , and a way of phrasing single. The melody world that it has created for a few years represents a manner with whole share of conceptualizing the guitaristic improvisation. In a way similar to the guitarists John Scofield and Stalemate Metheny, its music is based on simple and melody sentences.

He plays inter alia on guitars of mark De Angelico, guitars half-cases which are far from numerous with currently being put on the trade.
